Discovering the Treasure of the Mass: A Journey through its Parts
How many times have we participated in the celebration of the Eucharist? We come, go to our favorite pew, see the priest wearing different colors (green, white, red, purple, and rose), sing with the cantor, pay attention to the readings and homily, sit, stand, kneel, receive Jesus who is the Eucharist, and so on. We see and participate in all of these, but do we understand each part of the Mass? Do we understand the theology of the Eucharist?
The Mass is the center of our Christian life, and knowing its components—from the opening rites to the final offering—helps us live it with greater understanding, love, and devotion. Through this study, we will not only learn but also strengthen our relationship with God and the community. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) in 1324 says that the Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life.” In addition, CCC 1325 says, “The Eucharist is the efficacious sign and sublime cause of that communion in the divine life and that unity of the People of God by which the Church is kept in being. It is the culmination both of God’s action sanctifying the world in Christ and of the worship men offer to Christ and through him to the Father in the Holy Spirit.”
It is very important for the theology and Rite of the Eucharist. Therefore, I have the pleasure of inviting you to come and learn more about this wonderful sacrament given to us by the Lord in the Last Supper. Let us together discover the treasure of the Mass: a journey through its parts where we will have the opportunity to delve deeper into the meaning, value, and beauty of each moment of the Eucharistic celebration.
We will gather together once a month in Trinity Hall at 10:00 am. Save the dates: September 20th, October 18th, November 15th, & December 20th.
